Perth’s Most Iconic Beach

As some of you may know Perth is pretty much synonymous with the word beach. This city not only thrives off its luscious coastline but is actually built around the coast so everyone can have their little slice of paradise. This is why Perth has developed into such a sprawling city, and for good reason. Some of Australia’s best beaches can be found right here in Western Australia’s capital city.

With such a massive stretch of cityside coastline you are no doubt spoilt for choice when deciding which beach to visit while in the city. One beach that should be at the very top of your list however, is Cottesloe Beach. This is one of the most iconic beaches in the city and has been a local favorite for over 100 years.

Stroll down the beach and enjoy over a kilometer of pure white sand while you look out over the turquoise blue waters. Enjoy a fresh swim, snorkel, or surf. Watch the sun dip down over the Indian Ocean while enjoying a glass of wine. There is so much to do here you can see why it has been a favorite for generations of Western Australians and international visitors alike. Below is a list of some of our Cottesloe Beach must dos.

Surf, Swim, and Snorkel

The birthplace of surf in WA as well as the renowned surf lifesaving club this place is chock full of history. You will also find here the home of the Rottnest Channel swim where brave souls decide to attempt to swim the 20 kilometers from Cottesloe to Rottnest Island. But for those who are not ready to partake in such a strenuous endeavor there are plenty of opportunities for a relaxed swim or a fun snorkel just in front of the surf club.

Wine and Dine

This is arguably the second most popular activity in Perth after it’s beaches so why not enjoy both at the same time. A stroll down Marine Parade will take you past many stylish eateries with delicious food and even more delicious views of the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. Try out the famous Art Deco Indiana restaurant, or The Blue Duck, or book in for a table at Barchetta for a guaranteed spectacular sunset.

So pack your favorite picnic ensemble and head on down to enjoy the beach sans sand. If you are lucky you might even be able to tee up your picnic with one of the many live outdoor music concerts held here.
